Advanced Wreck Instructor Course

I. INTRODUCTION
Through advanced techniques, this course will instill a level of comfort and discipline allowing the instructor to conduct wreck courses with a greater margin of safety, productivity and enjoyment. This program includes penetration skills and techniques.
Depths shall not exceed the level in which the Instructor is trained and competent, but in no case shall the maximum depth in this program exceed 180 fsw /55 msw.

II. COURSE OBJECTIVES
The objective of this course is to train Instructors in the proper techniques, equipment requirements and hazards of teaching wreck diving.

Ill. QUALIFICATIONS OF GRADUATES
Upon successful completion of this course, Instructors may engage in wreck diving instruction so long as
1. The diving activities approximate those of training
2. The area of activities approximate those of training
3. Environmental conditions approximate those of training

IV. WHO MAY TEACH
Any active Advanced Wreck Diving Instructor Trainer may teach this course

V. INSTRUCTOR - INSTRUCTOR TRAINER RATIO
A. Classroom
Unlimited, so long as adequate facility, supplies and additional time are provided to insure comprehensive and complete training.
B. Open water
A maximum of 4 Instructors per TDI Instructor Trainer are allowed. The ratio should be reduced as required due to environmental or operational constraints.

VI. INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATES PRE-REQUISITES
A. Minimum of 21 years of age
B. Minimum certification as a TDI Decompression Procedures Diver, a TDI Advanced Wreck Diver and A TDI Advanced Nitrox Instructor or equivalent
C. Proof of 10 certified SDI Wreck Diver or equivalent
D. Proof of 200 logged dives with a minimum of 50 logged wreck dives, and 25 penetration wreck dives

VII. REQUIRED COURSE MINIMUMS
A. Classroom hours - 8
B. Open water Dives - 6 with a minimum accumulated bottom time of 100 minutes

VIII. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
The following equipment is required for each student
A. Primary Cylinder(s)

2. Submersible pressure gauges are required on primary cylinder(s)
3. A sufficient length hose for air sharing leading from a primary or from a primary redundant is required
D. Buoyancy Compensator(s) as appropriate for the open water environment
E. Depth gauge and automatic bottom timer and / or dive computer
F. Back-up Depth and Timing devices
Air decompression computers allowed for use as depth and
timing devices
H. Back-up light system adequate for the open water environment
I. Ascent reel with lift bag / surface marker buoy or up line
1. Adequate for the planned maximum depth
2. Minimum of 50 lb lift bag
J. Exposure Suit adequate for the open water environment
K. Line Cutting Device (2)
L. Underwater Slate
M. Reels
1. Primary penetration reel
2. Safety reel
N. Options that the instructor trainer may require
